Humans are native to Earth, a hearty and diverse people with a long natural history with the planet. According to Violus the race was in its infancy when he first came to Earth and although they were neither the strongest, fastest nor most fit of the creatures of the garden of strife he became enamored with their ingenuity, creativity and passion. It is after this first meeting that the All-Sire gave mankind a genetic nudge towards what humans have become today.
After this first meeting Violus left Earth to explore the rest of the galaxy. In the millennia that passed in his absence humanity forgot about the All-Sire and erected a pantheon of false gods in his stead. When Violus returned tens of thousands of years later Humanity refused to acknowledge him as their sovereign ruler and a violent conflict broke out. A year to the day after his arrival, with the human death toll in the billions and too few males left alive to sustain the genetic needs of humanity’s future, Lord Violus saw fit to finally entertain the surrender of the shivering masses.
For two generations after the so-called ‘Year of Blood’ humanity’s relationship with Violus was strained at best as he made sweeping reforms to human government, social culture and religion. His rule has been described as benevolent; in two human generations hunger, poverty and war were eliminated and the quality of life amongst tower citizens raised to an average that was unprecedented in human history. Among the most notable changes was the creation of the Demi-Sire, a third human gender which has allowed humanity to achieve the genetic diversity required to thrive as a species in the long term scope. These hermaphroditic humans are born into high religious status and make up less than 1% of the total human population.
Racial Ability Notes:
|The Human Spirit||Humans are a result of the evolutionary process; the weak killed off while those who were strong and learned to adapt lived long enough to procreate. Because of this history of strife the Human, like most animals on Earth, has a primal tenacity which may be tapped in dire circumstances. When the chips are down and the situation is grim, Humans shine the brightest earning a variable bonus to all rolls ranging from 1 to 3 at the GM’s discretion. The bonus is usually proportionate to the relative danger of the situation.|
|Favored of the All-Sire||Because of the Lord Violus’ tendency to fraternize with humans a fair percent of humans boast a genetic history linking them to the mighty Lord of Seeds himself. This boost of tailored genetics trickles through the species offering a genetic superiority that renders humans slightly more fit for survival. This superiority manifests itself as a bonus of 1 to any two ability scores on character creation.|
